Match Report
The rain washed out Gypsies chances for an outright last week, but Gypsies were given another chance at the outright as opposition failed to get the numbers together and were left with only 8 players. The opening bowlers didn’t took long to close the dragon’s 1st innings, and the dragons were wrapped up for 117. The game plan was clear get past the oppositions total as quickly as possible and then put a defendable score on the books. Nathan had too much time on his hands and decided he will maintain wagon wheels and balls faced by each player (specially for Shane). Shane surprised everyone with his unorthodox batting and for a change the red round looking thing instead of struggling to reach the silly point was making it all the way to the boundary(Shane ended up on never seen before 52). P Cheal has been very handy with his bat all seasons and he didn’t disappoint this time either scoring a quick 33. Captain played a marvellous innings(57) compiled mainly with huge sixes and 4s, which were told as a glorified tale all weekend long to Mrs Bathurst(Not to mention she thought AB was exaggerating the facts ;)). V Singh played with his usual style, scoring but not with many convincing shots ( 20 not out). R Singh came and went, but not before he made his presence felt on the field (scoring 24 of 6 balls 2,4,6,6,6, out). T Barnett wanted to get the dust off his bat, started off slow but was soon in the groove and ended up on 22 not out. Gypsies declared their innings at 218.

Gypsies again started off well taking 2 early wickets, and were looking good at claiming an outright victory. With only another 5 wickets to get, the captain turned to the rookie who impressed everyone with his hat trick last week and he didn’t disappoint, cleaning another 2 wickets. T Masters on the other end was trying everything possible, but the missed stumping and a couple of half chances didn’t help his cause. As the time was running out, in the last ditch effort captain turned to the openers to make the remaining break throughs. V Singh managed to clean 1 of the remaining three wickets. Then T Masters started his covert operation stirring up the tail ender, and it worked when in an effort to prove a point to T Masters (not sure though what the point was) the tail ender ran himself out( what a rookie). There was a bit controversy about the run out as apparently there was a run out at both the ends, and some say captain should have considered his options as it might have costed Gypsies an outright win. However, it all came down to the last over and the responsibility was put on the shoulders of V Singh, but he was unable to get that last wicket for his team (a bit disappointing)

But, on a positive note none of the other teams scored an outright so Gypsies are still at No. 2 spot and will finish at No. 2 before semi’s.
