Match Report |
DAY 1
Gypsies were eyeing for a chance at the outright win for third time in a row, but we are called a club in crisis for nothing. Shane decided to whinge about being too tired after the short session as a keeper and requested captain not to send him as the opener(I think he should be fined for dereliction of duty). Captain took the matters in his own hands and opened the batting with Paul Cheal, but failed to impress again and was sent home early. Romel was sent in next to support Paul who was looking a bit shaky and before we knew he was sent packing as well. Gypsies at this stage were struggling and fairing no better than their opposition. Romel stayed on the crease for while but then was bowled when he failed to effectively block a Yorker. V who was under pressure from avoiding a possible collapse and was not sure whether block, let go or hit the ball and ended up giving a simple catch to the bowler. R Singh wanting to repeat last match¡¦s success went after the bowlers too early and had his innings cut short at 13 . Hoping to bring some order back Shane was sent in with the hope that he will be able to stabilize the innings, but he ended up giving an easy catch to keeper. At this stage Gypsies were in a bit of a strife and were praying to just get past the opposition¡¦s score when all of sudden we saw change in the air with Chinmay going nuts and hitting opposition for 3 successive sixes. As the day 1 was nearly finished, Chinmay had a hit and a miss only to be stumped. Now whether he threw his wicket away or was it a genuine hit/miss is still a controversy and he has to be in the pub to defend his position or be fined for desertion. Warwick showed some class with the bat and Gypsies might have discovered another gem for their team. Gypsies ended the day 1 with 7/106.
DAY 2
Finally after few shake ups Gypsies got their outright win and are now on top of the ladder. How bout em!!! I hope the Australian selectors get this message before the next Ashes match.
It was perfectly laid out plan and Gypsies worked it to perfection, making the opposition believe: that the Gypsies have a hopeless batting line up. Gypsies innings finished on day 2 at 134. Gladsville were putting runs quickly on the board and losing very few wickets due to Gypsies mediocre performance on the field. Tempers flared when Tony implied (or at least that¡¦s what the young bloke thought Tony was suggesting) that the non striker was a cheat ƒº, as the empire refused him a plumb LBW. Soon Gladsville were well past the Gypsies score and finding the top scoring batsman for Gypsies missing (Chinmay), got cocky and thought 111 in 15overs was an impossible task for a team like Gypsies. They were surprised when they saw the number 9 batsman open the batting with V Singh on the other end. The message from the captain was clear hit it or get out. Gypsies went off to a flying start scoring well over the required run rate in the first 2overs and then V Singh was caught behind when he tried to pull a short ball. What followed could only be described as an absolute annihilation of the opposition bowlers. It was a hot day and R Singh was in no mood for measly singles or doubles and did most of his scoring in sixes and fours. Harry on the end was trying to impress his lady or was in hurry to get somewhere for something, either ways he matched each and every short from Roman with his own to get to his 1st half century of the season. Scorers were having a hard time keeping up with the pace of balls flying out of the park. The bar has been raised for these 2 gentlemen and may I suggest any performance short of the last one should be a fineable offence for these 2. But on second thoughts a consistent excellent performance will be a show off or very Un-Gypsy like and fineable anyways.
