Match Report

Day 1:

First suprise of the day was that the our opponents 'Silent Warriors' was just that, Silent, They are a deaf team. Unfortunately they had just 6 players show at 1:30, so they batted and eventually had 8 show up. There was some ability in 3 or 4 of the players, but with Chopper steaming in from the Southern End, we nullified their top order, Jim capturing the first 2 wickets.

The game was fortunately much like any other as one of their team was the son of their elder player, he's about 12 and has no hearing issues. He managed to assist the communication. Apart from bowler changes etc and communicating with umpires, business as usual.

AB picked up a couple of wickets, Mike, myself and Tony one each too. If not for some bursts of aggression against AB in one over and from Tony, their 86 would have looked more like 50.

Harry fell for 6, AB for 42, but Haggles and B1 made the batting look easy, with Mike racking up another Ton 116* support by a patient B1. Gypsies 2 - 219.

The only question will be whether we bat on or declare immediately and try and roll them in time to watch the Caulfield Cup at the pub.

Day 2:

After declaring at the start of play at 2/219 or so, some 140-odd in front, we easily accounted for an under-manned (7 players)Silent Warriors outfit to secure outright points.

After a short period where their openers played & missed a lot and our newest recruit to the slips dropped a sitter we bowled them out for a paltry 36.

Other highlights not mentioned last week were; playing on a field with grass on it and no other game next to us and having a changeroom to change in.

Therefore, we stand technically atop the C grade ladder with 10 points from our one game so far.

The good news was that we all got to the pub in time for the Caulfield Cup. The bad news was that some future can of freakin’ dogmeat won the bloody thing at $51-1 and none of us were on it.
