Met with a dry an dusty outfield and a hot sunny day, we could have kissed the feet of treasure when he sauntered back from winning the toss and told us to strap the pads on.

Dipn and Matt strolled out with the intention of carving out a long partnership and a solid base for the team and were counting their lucky stars to not be 1/2 in the second over as dipn pinged a full toss above the square leg fielder, who floored the simple catch while still on 0. It was going to be a costly mistake...

While Matt was finding his touch and taking on the unfamiliar sheet-anchor role, dipn took the attack to the bowlers taking advantage of the lightning fast outfield, carving up one bowler for 25 off his first over.

With 129 on the board dipn was out trying to smash away the Pie Master with his 3rd century of the season in the books.

Simco and Jase then combined with Matt to kick the score along to 3/173 to bring the big hitting Regan to the crease.

Today was to be his day as all other efforts were overshadowed by some lusty hitting and sharp running as he raced to his maiden saggy ton, smashing over and through the field for a sparkling 118, combining with Matt for a fantastic 4th wicket partnership of 122.

Matt was unlucky to not make it phenomenal 3 centuries in a single innings as after surviving for over 3 hours and playing himself back to form, he copped a poor lbw call on 96 and missed out on his 3rd ton of the season.

Keeping up with their recent form the saggy lower order continued the run fest to score an amazing 9 dec. for 396 off 67 overs!

The innings was closed strangely early after an official umpire from another game was outraged by kurrajong's slow over rate and that we were still on field 15 mins after the scheduled time limit (and with still another 20 mins left of overs to bowl...) and proceeded to pull rank and walk straight onto the field and shut the game down! The captains then agreed to make the target what the state of game was at 5:45, 63 overs to bowl and 381 runs to get... still a most formidable total!

The next week our prayers had been answered as there had been significant rain during the week which had lengthened the grass and slowed the outfield taking a good 40-50 runs out of it :)

Unfortunately the team gods frowned upon us yet again with V succumbing to a knee injury and two more players unable to make it... thankfully Bob sagged hard and fulfilled 12th man duties magnificently

So, two men short with lots of holes in the field we had a lot of work to do when it became obvious we'd get no favours from the umpires as they seemed set on settling a ledger from the week before as they turned down and obvious edge through to the keeper early in the game.

The saggys were bowling well but our fielding was rather ordinary as cracks appeared with dropped catches, fumbling, overthrows and missed run outs... but somehow even though we hadn't taken a wicket we had kept their run rate down meaning that by the halfway point the had only 125 on the board still requiring 255 at over 8 rpo!

So we toiled on knowing that at some point they'd have to start swinging the blade and the wickets would surely follow!

Hunty was unlucky not to have both openers off his two overs, Sam was equally unlucky as he frequently beat the edge and had none of his edges taken, and Brad bowled some tidy spells without luck.

The breakthrough came once again through spin as Mushtaq the destroyer of galaxies struck twice in his 4 overs to have both openers caught well at midoff by Cameo Bob and take their score from 0/180 to 2/217.

Then the wheels came off the saggy wagon as a great partnership formed and the gypsy king combined with a big hitter to find the boundary with regular ease and proceed to send shockwaves of concern rippling through the saggy camp...surely we couldn't lose with nearly 400 on the board!!

...enter one Golden Arm Hawkes to turn the game with a masterful spell of bowling and fielding.

He began the saggy rescue by first clean bowling the boundary hitter then effecting a magnificent stop off his own bowling then proceeded to turn and throw down the stumps at the keepers end to remove the other established batsman!

The same over he bowled another batsman, his next over an LBW and all of a sudden simco has us on top of the game once again with the gypsy tail in and swinging themselves out.

As dipn is brought on to bowl the game out with simco he managed to bowl tight enough and combine with a hard working Jase to pick up a deserved stumping and leave them needing 17 off the last over.

They managed only 7, and there finished a thrilling game with the saggies managing to finally close out a tight one after getting a heap of runs on the board and prove that if we can make the finals we are a definite threat after once again beating the team on top of the table!
